Tesla and the state of Brandenburg have signed the purchase contract for the land on which Giga Berlin will be built by the electric car manufacturer.
Two and a half months after the announcement by Tesla to build a factory near Berlin, the path to sell the property to the American electric car maker was set. Tesla’s sales contract with the state of Brandenburg was notarized, the state chancellery announced after a working group (task force) meeting in Potsdam on Wednesday.
According to a source that was on ground: Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) spoke about a significant step for the industrial project to succeed. “But there is still a lot of work to be done by everyone involved,” he underlined. Tesla plans to build up to 750,000 electric cars a year in Grünheide from July 2021.
